     Monday June 2, 2014 my ENG 101 class was having a podcast. A few students got to go up and speak about their experience for the class and how do they feel about Climate Change. To me it was pretty interesting to hear about how my classmates felt about this course ENG 101 and how it has given them an open mind to Climate Change. Me coming into ENG 101 I had a few tastes of Climate Change but did not give it any thought what so ever, until in class we had to read a book on climate change and that is when I started to realize that this stuff is no joke and we need to take it seriously. One thing I can honestly say that I learned from this class was to think ahead and what can happen and ways we can prevent it. 

Analyzing Anti-Islamic Hate Crime Incidents Graph

        

        In this graph the data that it is measuring is the Anti-Islamic Hate Crime Incidents that happen in 1995-2008.From the year 1995-2000 they have been pretty low , have not gone higher than 32. There looks to be a pattern that it would jump from 29 to 27 then would go =to 28 then a little high to 32 then drop again.  But in 2001 there was an outrageous amount of incidents that added up to be 481 just that year. And as the year went on from 2002-2008 they still remained as high but not as high as 481 they ended up staying 156 being high and 105 being the lowest there is also a little pattern that is between those years. The data is somewhat important because it is letting us know that amount of Anti-Islamic Hate Crime Incidents that happen from year 1995-2008, and is showing us the amount of incidents that happen each year. You can also see the differences between the years as well. I think the purpose of this graph was to show not only the hate crime incidents but to show how they started off pretty low and out of nowhere they were sky high then shot right back down not drastically but a pretty good amount to where it was previously.

"Sandy Storyline"

 This blog is about victims that lived hurricane sandy.We were told to pick two stories on the "Sandy Storyline".. No one expect for hurricane sandy to hit New York City that hard. Everyone was in the state of mind that we were not going to get hit ,A lot of people were not  prepare for the storm at all. Linda Restanio and her family walked to the beach to check on the water . Not knowing the dangerous these waves would be & how much damage it was going to cause to theirhomes . Linda stated "usually everybody gets excited with a storm" (Linda Resnanio). But everything was destroy.  No one expect for this hurricane to hit so hard. Hurricane Sandy took people lives, destroy people homes and properties. It left bad memory in New York City. Debbie Turner & her daughter Ayla lived in their home for about 6-7 year before Sandy storm hit . She was 8 months pregnant when the storm hit. Which made it difficult for her . As shown in the video her  home was destroy she had no wall, furniture, light, gas. She has been waiting for FEMA to send her money to rebuild her house . They lost her paper work twice . Which kind've of ridiculous in her condition with a daughter and a newborn. The government didn't know how to handle the situation. so they just try to get rid of people by find them a temporary home. Turner states "The government doesn't know what they really doing with us" (Debbie Turner). 

      I believe that the city can be more open-minded about Climate Change if they are more aware of the situation. Reading the New York Times Article , New York is Lagging as seas and risks rise, critics warm Navarro stated something that i felt was very important for us New Yorkers to pay attention to . Navarro writes "Officials in New York caution that adapting a city of eight million people to climate change is infinitely more complicated and that the costs must be weighed against the relative risks of flooding. The last time a hurricane made landfall directly in New York City was more than a century ago"(Navarro).  I do agree with this quota that is is very much complicated adapting a city full with eight million people to Climate Change. i also feel that those eight million should be aware of these things and not to be so close minded about situations like this especially Climate Change. people then to think that since we live NYC  things like this cannot happen to us or at least not as bad. and this is wear people are wrong. The state of mind that these people are in feel like we are untouchable and this is what happen when Sandy hit and we were not prepared and i feel that we can never prepare for Climate Change cause we simply are not ready.

     Based on the feedback that i received from my classmates from my peer review , got some ideas on my thesis statement. My classmates also explain to me that i have a lot of information and a lot of details to work with and to put into  my letter. They basically showed me what i was missing to have a great paper. I will be going to the writing center as well once i complete my whole draft to fix any other things to have a great paper. I feel that this peer review helped me.

I feel what the article was trying to come across or to get people attention which was a main point that we need to take these warnings a little more seriously. Also the need for  environmental awareness. lot of people tend to feel or even think that since we live in New York and since its not a tropical area that we will never have to experience a "Tropical Storm" . and that's were people fail to realize that over the years climate change is big, and is getting worse and worse over the years and its not joke. i feel that people need to realize everything that is going on and to be more aware of it, and try to take it more seriously rather then just something so little like it wont get worst. After all it is a world we are all living in and people should take the time to know that all of this is real .

Climate Casino

In The Climate Casino William Nordhaus said "they accumulate in the atmosphere and stay there for a long time ."  I feel that what the paragraph is trying to let readers know what is the ultimate source of Global Warming, such as that fossil burning which leads to emissions of carbon dioxide and that all of them are accumulated into the atmosphere and they stay there for a very long time. and that all of this resulting impacts in change of temperatures as well as temperatures extreme. So what i feel that the author is trying to let us know is to WAKE UP and realize that this is all real and not a joke , we should take this stuff seriously .
